Summary of Duties:

This full-time position within the Elson S Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) Research Administration Office has substantial responsibility for directing or controlling program operations and is accountable for the allocation of resources and program results. It specifically provides highly responsible administrative and financial oversight to the Vice Dean and Director for pre- and post-award grants and contracts activities, including grant review and submission, funds management and renewal documentation, effort reporting, financial reconciliations, and final award closure.

This position serves as the senior pre- and post-award grants management and research finance representative for COM, ensuring efficient operations of all research grant and contract activities, while meeting all institutional, state and federal compliance requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or other related degree. Experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Four (4) years of experience managing grants and/or contracts, or other closely related experience.
  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Knowledge of tools including database administration, electronic proposal systems and other related software.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and sponsor regulations, guidelines pertaining to contract and grant administration.
  • Knowledge of grant and contract methods and procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Previous higher education experience in pre- and/or post-award grants and contracts.

Monthly Salary: Minimum: $4,942.10, Midpoint: $6,255.83 , Maximum: $7,569.55; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
