Job Summary:

As a Lab Technician in the newly established Yomogida Lab at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Campus, you will become a key player in breakthrough research within the fields of immunology and pediatric autoimmune diseases. Your work will be instrumental to our laboratory's objectives, contributing to our academic unit's reputation for excellence, and supporting the university's mission of advancing human health through scientific innovation.

In this dynamic role, you will perform diverse experiments, including isolating immune cells from various mice and human tissues and profiling the features of isolated cells/tissues using various techniques such as flowcytometry and histological analysis. You will find yourself deeply involved in our pioneering projects on mucosal immunology, innate immunity, and pediatric autoimmune diseases. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on skills and engage directly with impactful biomedical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping, and maintaining health and records.
  • Perform a variety of experiments utilizing both mouse and human samples. Namely, flowcytometry, histology preparation, cell culture.
  • Isolate immune cells from diverse tissues, such as liver and intestine, in both mouse and human samples.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate in the development and execution of research protocols.
  • Interpret experimental results and contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.
  • Uphold laboratory safety protocols, ensuring a safe and productive research environment.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Campus.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years professional level research experience.

Principal Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three (3) years professional level research experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in immunology, biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient or expert knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Expert ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Expert level knowledge of immunological techniques, molecular biology and bioinformatics processes, function and/or technology.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as:

Intermediate Level: $45,801 - $58,259

Senior Level: $49,515 - $62,983

Principal Level: $56,942 - $72,430

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
