 Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment. The selected applicant will:

• Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications.
• Identifies and prepares specimens.
• Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
• Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
• Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and logbooks. Organizes and documents results.
• Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a medical or health science related field, preferably biological sciences, molecular biology, pharmacy, immunology, or cancer biology. A master’s degree is highly desirable.

It is recommended that a candidate holds prior lab experience.

Essential Functions 

The Laboratory Research Assistant will handle small laboratory animals (mice), in vitro cell culture (mouse and human samples/biofluids), immunoblotting, gene expression assays, gene editing assays, flow cytometry, lab up-keep, ordering, and other duties as assigned.


Physical Effort 

 Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
