City of Hope has a Research Associate I opportunity available. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I supports basic and translational laboratory research by performing routine and increasingly complex experiments involving human samples and cultured cells. The position assists with sample processing, cell culture, flow cytometry, experimental documentation, reagent preparation, and general laboratory operations in support of ongoing research projects.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Perform research experiments involving human samples, primary cells, and cultured cell lines using established protocols and laboratory equipment. Assist with human sample processing, cell isolation, cell culture, and preparation of samples for downstream assays. Record and validate results for accuracy and completeness.
Perform routine cell-based and immunology assays, including cell counting, culture maintenance, stimulation/co-culture experiments, and flow cytometry sample preparation. Assist with basic data analysis and modify protocols under supervision, as needed.
Prepare reagents, media, buffers, and other laboratory materials; assist with maintaining laboratory supplies, inventory, and organization. Contribute to standard operating procedures and research reports as needed.
Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, results, and methodology; calculate, graph, compile, and summarize experimental data for review by the research team, as needed.
Develop technical expertise in areas relevant to laboratory projects, including mammalian cell culture, human immune-cell handling, and flow cytometry, and work collaboratively with laboratory members to support ongoing studies.
Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines for the handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
Your qualifications should include:
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Prior wet-laboratory research experience in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related biomedical research area is preferred.
Experience with mammalian cell culture, human sample processing, or flow cytometry is a plus.
Experience with animal handling and mouse models is preferred.
