Research Technician Medical Oncology

Updated: 14 days ago
Deadline: 15 Sep 2026

Lung cancer and mesothelioma remain among the deadliest cancers worldwide, highlighting the need for more effective and targeted therapies. Our research focuses on developing innovative treatments by targeting the RNA splicing machinery, a promising therapeutic strategy for cancers with a high unmet medical need.

In this project, which runs until the end of 2028, you will contribute to preclinical laboratory research using advanced disease models, including patient-derived organoids and human xenograft tumour models on chicken eggs. You will also investigate why cancer cells are particularly sensitive to disruption of the RNA splicing machinery.

The project combines molecular biology, cell biology and genomics with state-of-the-art technologies such as confocal microscopy and (single-cell) RNA sequencing. Your work will directly contribute to the development of new treatment strategies for patients with lung cancer and mesothelioma.

As a Research Technician, you will play an important role in the day-to-day execution of this research project. You will work closely with researchers to generate high-quality experimental data and contribute to innovative cancer research.

Your responsibilities include:

  • planning, preparing and performing molecular and cellular laboratory experiments;
  • working with patient-derived organoids, xenograft tumour models and gene delivery, expression and gene silencing techniques;
  • documenting, processing and analysing experimental data;
  • preparing study reports and maintaining accurate laboratory records;
  • presenting research findings during internal meetings and contributing to scientific collaborations.
