The laboratory of Dr. Samira Kiani and Mo Ebrahimkhani at the University of Pittsburgh have an immediate opening for an outstanding, highly motivated, and self-driven technician to join a cutting edge research program on engineering immune tolerance by combining mRNA technologies, nanoparticles, and epigenetic editing.



Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions 

The PIs are interested in developing novel approaches to modulate immune response. This project aims to specifically engineer immune tolerance against gene therapy. The ideal candidate has prior experience in in immunology, in vivo mouse models, or nanoparticles. There is an industry relation component in this project that candidate will get to experience as well. In this role, the individual will be responsible to conduct the in vivo animal studies, from preparing the reagents, to doing the animal studies and downstream assays.


Physical Effort 

This position is primarily sedentary. Incumbent will be expected to walk between laboratories of collaborators.
