Summary of Duties

The Director for the Office of Research in the College of Public Health plans, leads, and directs pre-award, award and post-award grant and contract activities; supervises and provides direction to College’s office of research administrative staff members; provides leadership and develops policies and procedures in the area of research administration; reports to and works at the direction of the Associate Dean for Research; has a dotted line reporting relationship with the College’s Chief Administrative Officer regarding post-award compliance activities; and works with other college and university units to advance the College’s research-relevant goals and initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; extensive experience in research administration (pre- and post-award) and grants management; knowledge of federal grant policies and regulations; knowledge of university policies and procedures; supervisory, administrative, and problem-solving experience; enthusiasm for research; requires leadership abilities, organizational skills, and a customer friendly approach; working knowledge of electronic tools such as PI Portal, PeopleSoft, Cayuse, and NIH tools including eRA Commons and RePORT; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications

Certification in Research Administration (CRA); advanced degree with a master’s or PhD or equivalent experience.

Target Salary $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually
