Reporting to the Director of Agricultural Operations, the administrative assistant supports office functions for The College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Agricultural Operations. Supports office functions for various teams within Operations throughout various Agricultural Research Stations located statewide. This position is located in Wooster, Ohio. Provides administrative assistance and office support services to director, managers and employees. Assists with fiscal operations. Enters purchase requisitions and reconciles expense reports. Assists with Human Resources processes including recruitment, advertising, scheduling interviews, distribution of position announcements to media outlets, and new employee onboarding.  Observes confidentiality in handling personnel information. Assists with supervisor calendar management, schedules meetings and appointments. Picks up and distributes mail and packages. Drafts correspondence, edits documents and assists with mailings.  Prepares and distributes meeting agendas, attends meetings and records / uploads meeting minutes. Assists with filing, sorting documents, and organization of office files per university retention schedule. Assists with developing flyers, promotional materials and formatting department reports. Assists with updating web site information.

Receives and responds to inquiries from department managers, staff, and university customers. Operates computers, word processing and data base software, and office equipment to produce routine to complex documents.  Assists with formatting information to develop Power Point presentations or other document formats and corresponds via email and phone to managers.  Assists managers and staff from campus or distant locations with office functions.

Summarizes data and inventory information. Serves as back up to other office staff during absences. Other duties as assigned.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday at the department office at CFAES Wooster Campus.

Required Education:  High school diploma or GED required.

Desired Education: Associates degree or or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Required Experience:  0-1 years of relevant experience.  

Desired Experience:  1-2 years of relevant experience.
