Job DescriptionSCOPE OF POSITIONThe Special Functions lab performs routine and highly complex testing in autoimmune, infectious diseases, tumor markers, hormones, special hematology and proteins. The department is staffed Monday through Friday, 6:30 am-11:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.POSITION SUMMARYThe Lead Technologist in the department will direct the daily tasks of the laboratory while performing routine testing and providing leadership within the area. Writes and implements technical procedures. Demonstrates specialized technical expertise necessary to the areas. Verifies and reports tests requests and results. Assists with adjusting the schedules and assigns tasks to subordinates to accommodate work load fluctuations, personnel shortages, etc. Is directly responsible for the technical quality of all implementation, training, documentation of employee competency, record keeping and maintaining JCAHO, CAP and other regulatory standards. Works under the direction of division directors and the laboratory manager. The laboratory also provides training for pathology residents, medical students, medical technology students, medical laboratory technicians and various research functions for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.Minimum Education RequiredBachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in medical technology, Associates Degree or biological science degree with MT or MLT certification. Prefer an MT with 3 years of clinical laboratory experience or MLT with 5 years clinical laboratory experience. Must have knowledge of Immunology. Proficient in Microsoft programs and supervisory experience preferred.
