The Development Specialist III, is responsible for providing assistance and support to enhance and improve the effectiveness of overall development and alumni relations activities for the Bush School of Government and Public Service. This person serves as the administrative arm for donor stewardship and alumni engagement. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience in development.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • Position may work outside of normal business hours, nights and weekends.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree.
  • More than 4 years of experience in development or professional administrative experience in higher education.

Responsibilities :

Development Relations and Administration

  • Provide administrative support for alumni, donor, and student events, and general administration to the Assistant Dean for Development, Alumni Relations and Strategic Initiatives.
  • Coordinates with various offices in and outside the Bush School to ensure efficient, accurate, regular and professional contact with alumni and donors.
  • Works with the communication team on development programming, to include, but not limited to the development newsletter, special events, event communication, social media, etc.
  • Serve as a member of the college’s development team to steward and recognize donors and their gifts and between donors the Dean’s Office and the school i
  • Assist and support all Bush School development activities, including donor recognition/stewardship activities, cultivation events and donor by facilitating positive relationships between donors and scholarship students and/or faculty and program staff.
  • Maintain records and coordinate the status of and reporting requirements for donor gifts with Foundation records.

Alumni Relations Engagement:

  • Works with the communication team on alumni relations programming, to include, but not limited to the alumni newsletter, special events, event communication, social media, etc.
  • Maintains an effective process for use of alumni contact database through the Texas A&M Foundation, the Association of Former Students, and the George and Barbara Bush Foundation.
  • Serve as primary coordinator for alumni recognition activities, special projects, and events including, but not limited to, Dean’s reception in Washington, DC, Austin, TX and other cities; local, regional, and national alumni events.
  • Build and engage alumni chapters; extend communications/engagement outside the Dean’s office.

Event Coordination

  • Develop and coordinate development and alumni relations events on-campus and off-campus.
  • Manage event logistics, including itineraries and agendas, presentation materials, speaker needs, recognition pieces, and special activities for alumni and development events.

Business

  • Coordinate arrangements for Assistant Dean and invited speakers, purchase items though AggieBuy, and reconcile procard.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and contributes as a team member by providing support to the various activities of the Dean’s office as needed.
