Job Summary:
In the absence of the Sergeant, takes responsibility for the smooth and efficient operation of an assigned shift. Performs the duties of a Public Safety Officer when not supervising a shift.
Required Qualifications:
1. A minimum of four years’ experience in the security management field, preferably at a college or university.
2. Excellent human relations skills with the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation.
3. Vision correctable to normal. Normal hearing range.
4. Sufficient physical agility for effective action in emergencies or in circumstances requiring physical exertion.
5. Sufficient communicative skills to read and understand instructions and to clearly express both written and verbal ideas.
6. Must be available for overtime as requested.
7. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle Policy. A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.
8. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
9. Employment is conditional upon the satisfactory result of a post-offer of employment medical/vision examination and drug test administered by a university selected licensed medical practitioner, indicating fitness and health to perform the job.
