Job Summary
The Women’s Resource Center at The University of Utah enthusiastically welcomes applications for our Education Navigator. This position will be working with Women’s Resource Center scholars—and specifically the Larry H. & Gail Miller Enrichment Scholars (“LHMS”)—by providing ongoing holistic support to increase retention, graduation, and career readiness. This person will support student success from start to graduation using high impact, data-informed practices.
The Education Navigator will work as a part of the entire WRC team and contribute to the overall mission of the organization by engaging in program & event planning, outreach, and assessment.
This position reports to the WRC Associate Director and may work closely with WRC Director on specific programs or projects. This is not a remote position, but will offer some flexibility regarding hours and work schedule to meet the needs of the office and our students. Responsibilities
  • Provides individual guidance and support to students linking students to resources and campus opportunities.
  • Sits on scholarship review and selection committee
  • Plan and facilitate annual 2-day orientation for Larry H. & Gail Miller Enrichment Scholars
  • Being available for orientation
  • Meets with LHMS scholars one-two times per semester to support their academic success throughout their academic career.
  • Meets with WRC scholars at least once per academic year
  • Facilitates small group activities that lead to student success and belonging
  • Collects and utilizes data to determine effective practices contributing to student success
  • Co-coordinates Student Support Fund requests
  • Assists program coordinator in offering engaging programs to scholars and other students
  • Builds effective relationships with campus partners, collaborating as needed to best serve students
  • Work collaboratively with the WRC leadership team and Student Affairs Advancement to compile a detailed report on the impact of funding to the donors supporting WRC scholarships.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Demonstrated success working with a diverse range of college students including populations historically and persistently marginalized and underrepresented in higher education.
Preferences
  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience with academic advising
  • Experience with Civitas or NavigateU or other advising platform
