Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as the Content Marketing Specialist. This position is a key member of the school’s Dean’s Administration and will support the marketing of all Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) programs, events, and initiatives, as well as help to uncover valuable opportunities for enhancing the reputation, promotion, and visibility of the school’s thought leadership and overall brand. 

As a skilled writer, storyteller, and content creator, this individual will oversee content strategy and produce a wide range of multimedia content for distribution across the website, newsletters, and social media channels. This position will also assist with the ColoradoSPH media relations strategy by proactively identifying newsworthy stories and liaising with the school’s office of media relations and external public relations partners when media requests arise. This position will be required to work occasional nights and/or weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains ColoradoSPH content and communication strategy in alignment with the overall marketing strategy and goals.
  • Actively oversees the ColoradoSPH website.
  • Reviews all printed and digital materials to ensure they follow ColoradoSPH branding guidelines and AP style.
  • Assists with developing and implementing digital strategy for social media, email marketing campaigns, and media relations targeting specific audiences, including current students, alumni, donors, community supporters, and other constituents.
  • Creates and delivers content via social media outlets (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, email, YouTube, etc.).
  • Tracks newsletter analytics and social media reach and reputation.
  • Produces and edits stories, videos, and other multimedia pieces for multiple platforms, including print, electronic, social media, and broadcast. 

This is a full-time position and reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

Senior Professional:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in marketing, including social media, content creation through storytelling, email marketing, and/or related field. 

Principal Professional:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, including social media, content creation through storytelling, email marketing, and/or related field. 

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or communications from an accredited college or university.
  • Direct marketing experience related to product marketing, campaign planning, digital marketing, messaging, positioning, and/or copywriting.
  • Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  • Experience using CRM databases, CMS systems, and developing content for web.
  • Demonstrated experience in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and the internet.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Cloud (Photoshop, Publisher, InDesign) or related design software, Cascade Server or other web content software.

Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills on the phone and in person. Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, formats, proofreading, and syntax.
  • Ability and knowledge to track and measure success through analytics and other metrics.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects at once, while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Ability to learn new digital, social media, and software applications.
  • Ability to perform in a changing technological environment and learn quickly; adapt and reinvent procedures according to change.
  • Outstanding creativity, with a flair for marketing, design, and content editing.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as:

Senior Professional: $60,000 - $69,000 (1.0 FTE)

Principal Professional: $63,000 - $79,000 (1.0 FTE)

The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
