Who we are  

 Recruitment Marketing is responsible for communicating with prospective students, creating marketing materials used by recruitment staff, managing marketing partnerships and supporting recruitment programming and the marketing needs of the Visitor Center. Our mission is to tell the story of Texas A&M University to prospective students and encourage them to enroll at Texas A&M. We do this through our core capabilities: creative development, strategic communication planning, brand management, graphic design, HTML email design and strategy, presentation design, social media strategy and execution, digital marketing, video production, market research and campaign analytics.

Recruitment Marketing is seeking a Communications Specialist II to provide social media management, copy-writing and creative planning support. The ideal candidate has experience in social media research, management, analytics and brand communications; interviewing; writing with proper AP Style and adherence to brand guidelines; creative campaign brainstorming, design and implementation; and creating a cohesive message across multiple marketing channels. We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organize and develop multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Salary Range : $36,512.00 - $46,924.00 (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in promotional and educational writing.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of proper AP Style and the application of grammar, punctuation and syntax rules with Texas A&M's brand guide.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Knowledge of promotional, factual writing styles and publication procedures.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and tactics.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Marketing.
  • Two years of related experience in promotional and educational writing, specifically for recruitment of prospective students to an institute of higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management - Proactively identifies social media trends in higher education and high school age levels to attract the attention of prospective students. Creates posts and stories to inform and persuade students about what an education from Texas A&M offers. Manages messages and comments on Aggiebound social accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. Uses SEMRush, Hootsuite and native analytics dashboards to schedule campaigns and make informed decisions on content strategies.
  • Creative Messaging - Develops persuasive, engaging and creative short- and long-form copy — in collaboration with project leads, communications team, graphic designers, project managers, clients and others — for multiple media including print, digital and social. Crafts, edits and revises copies as needed to ensure content is creative, attention-grabbing, effective and that it meets client approval.
  • Creative Collaboration - Collaborates with the creative team to ensure that words and images, video and audio complement one another to convey a clear message or tell an engaging story. Writes all content consistent with strategic messages, brand guidelines, product/service positioning and editorial style. Works with other content team members to create strategic and tactical communications. Attends meetings and other activities that involve media coverage or story development.
  • Creative Development - Collaborate with the Director of Recruitment Marketing and Communications Coordinator to establish recruitment communication plans via social media channels. This will include collaboration across departments to understand the recruitment process, determine the appropriate messaging style and establish the appropriate timing of distribution.
  • Technical Writing - Researches, writes and edits content to be distributed via university websites, CRM or Aggiebound blog. This content will include messaging directed toward prospective students and their families and students who have applied and are in the process of completing the steps to attend the University. This content will directly affect applications, enrollment, success and retention.
  • Creative Research - Researches specific opportunities, events, resources and other information to distribute via Aggiebound social media channels. This will include interviewing students, faculty, staff and former students on and off campus. Performs other duties as assigned.
