The Business Coordinator I, under general supervision, provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data as directed by supervisor. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Two years of related experience in general office, accounting or personal operations

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Interpersonal ,communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three or more years of experience working with TAMU financial & business unit systems, such as FAMIS, Canopy, Maestro, Aggiebuy, eTravel/Concur, Workday, Citibank Software, and/or I-payments
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • A strong knowledge base and skillset in accounting, account balancing and management, expense review and processing
  • Excel Worksheet usage and development, purchase order processing, and inventory control
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail skills
  • Ability to plan and organize well and take the initiative to complete tasks independently

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of Fiscal Activities - Coordinates fiscal activities including purchasing activities, travel reimbursements, and credit card orders for departmental accounts. Coordinates the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for unit administrators by collecting business information from a variety of sources (Canopy, FAMIS, Maestro, etc.).

  • Personnel and Procedures - Coordinates personnel business activities for the department. Coordinates and maintains unit business files. Coordinates business records management. Implements and audits units business procedures. Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and interprets  policies and regulations. Coordinates the implementation of system policies/rules and procedures as it relates to business transactions. Serves as the coordinator of the inventory process.

  • Liaison - Serves as the liaison with Financial Management Services and Human Resources Department.  Composes complex unit business-related correspondence as needed.

  • Budget and Other Financial Reports
     - Coordinates with the  Business Administrator to obtain information for budget reports and other financial reports required by the department.

            

  • Compliance - Reviews department procedures for compliance with TAMU  rules and regulations. Assists faculty and department administrators with resolving complex issues related to funding. Performs other duties as assigned.
