We’re seeking a dynamic Associate Director to join our high-performing team in transforming student support. Under administrative direction, the Associate Director will assist with planning and organizing the operations of the Success Coaching Center. The Associate Director will create and direct administrative processes, procedures, and practices to ensure proactive, consistent communication with students and colleagues. This position will also partner and collaborate with university staff in academic units, academic advising, colleges, enrollment services units and others across the university. A full commitment to the success of the business and high standards of achievement is expected in this position. This position will report to the Director of Student Success.

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, directs, and reviews activities and operations of the department.
  • Assists in supervising the Success Coach Leads.
  • Participates in the hiring, training, and evaluation of department staff.
  • Determines and takes appropriate corrective action and discipline including termination.
  • Conducts and assists with the development of long- and short-range goals.
  • Develops objectives and activities based on department goals.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements department policies and procedures.
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Serves as representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
  • Resolves problems and issues affecting the department and directs measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
  • Directs and oversees the development and evaluation of department programs.
  • Manages the design, development, and coordination of projects.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years
of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory
experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes
four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education
and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been
achieved.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Student Services, Coaching or Advising preferred.
  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Evidence of a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of organizational management.
  • Experience in problem solving and making decisions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite
  • Experience in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
  • Experience in effectively managing, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Experience in program design and development.
  • Evidence of effective communication.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
