Job Description

The Associate Project Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the ASU AI Cloud Innovation Center, a collaboration between ASU and AWS focusing on leveraging AI and cloud technology and innovative processes to address community and regional challenges. This role involves managing projects from ideation through prototype stages, ensuring they align with the Center's mission to benefit the greater Phoenix area and beyond.

Essential Duties

  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects utilizing Amazon’s innovation processes and cloud solutions. Oversee projects and student workers from conception to completion, ensuring they meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with smart city designers, ASU staff, students and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Innovation and Technology Implementation: Employ cutting-edge cloud technologies and innovative strategies to solve pressing challenges in the community.
  • Space management and planning for staff
  • Event coordination
  • Public Sector Engagement: Facilitate the sharing of solutions within the public sector, contributing to regional development.
  • Community Impact: Drive initiatives that have a tangible, positive impact on the Phoenix metropolitan area and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience; 1 of which are in project management, or any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Preferred Agile/Scrum Experience
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in technology or smart city initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and digital transformation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see and hear to perform essential duties.
  • Regular review of completed tasks.
