About the Department

The Cornell University Office of the University Registrar (OUR) implements and monitors many academic and administrative policies in coordination with academic units, departments, colleges, and schools to facilitate faculty teaching and student learning.  The Office of the University Registrar acts as the steward of academic and student information.  The Office of the Registrar champions the constant renewal of student information systems, adapts operations to changing academic needs, federal, state, and institution policies, and evaluates administrative processes for services improvements. 

The Opportunity

The Assistant University Registrar, Credit Evaluation Services will oversee all transfer, test and placement credit matters for current and prospective Cornell University students. They will be expected to work independently and to lead the transfer services team. The Assistant University Registrar will collaborate with the Associate University Registrar of Academic Systems and Technology to oversee the transfer services team's strategic direction and operational objectives.

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant University Registrar for Credit Evaluation Services include but are not limited to:

  • The professional in this role functions as a transfer course evaluation and equivalency determination expert and provides leadership to a small team of staff specializing in domestic and international Credit Evaluation Services, including prior learning experiences.

  • Providing leadership to vision and improve system technologies used by the Registrar's Office and all schools/colleges, academic departments, and administrative units, including TES and transcript OCR software. 

  • Collaborate with school/college representatives, advisors, faculty, and university committees related to test and transfer credit.

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining credit transfer policy and articulation agreements. Assist with instructing others on the application of articulation processes.

  • Coordinate accurate and timely maintenance and processing of student enrollment and records updates in the student information system (SIS). 

  • Demonstrate a passion and commitment for exploring and implementing strategies that contribute to the sustained development of the Office of the University Registrar staff.

  • Build rapport and establish and maintain professional relationships with school/college representatives to continually enhance the student experience and support the teaching and learning mission of the institution.

  • Actively participate with other Assistant University Registrars in OUR to ensure seamless integration between transfer and test credit processing and compliance, student record maintenance, and customer service.

We seek a dynamic, collaborative professional who has strong functional expertise with demonstrated leadership capacity and superb time management skills to provide excellent service to students, advisers, faculty, staff, and others served by the Office of University Registrar. 

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement based in Ithaca, NY. 

What We Need:

For full consideration, applicants must include both a resume and cover letter with their application. 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in higher education student and/or transfer services with an in-depth understanding of student records administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop documentation and deliver effective training to college/school and academic departments.

  • Knowledge of business processes and practices related to transfer and test credit, and experience creating, updating, and maintaining articulation agreements in higher education.

  • Working knowledge of a Student Information System, including but not limited to course, class, test/transfer articulation, and enrollment modules.

  • Ability to solicit, document and communicate business requirements, problems, issues, and solutions to technical and non-technical users.

  • Understand, synthesize, and document project impacts by developing process designs/diagrams (e.g., current state to future state), identify gaps/opportunities, identify upstream and downstream impacts, and translate into project goals/outcomes and business user cases to mitigate risks and enhance business operations of the student information system and other academic systems.

  • Familiarity with standard office software packages and reporting tools.

  • Experience with project management tools.

  • Experience using PeopleSoft Student Information System.

  • Experience using curriculum management tools such as Modern Campus/Digital Architecture or CourseLeaf.

  • Experience in data analysis and report development.

  • Knowledge of Application Programming Interface (API) and web services.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Master’s degree.
