Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of coaching experience with a collegiate rowing program.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of recruiting and video software.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by University of Louisville.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
Preferred Qualifications
  • NCAA Division I Rowing coaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of athlete conditioning and maintenance.
  • Experience with rowing specific data collection modalities.
Position Description

The Assistant Rowing Coach reports directly to the Head Rowing Coach. Position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the overall coordination and execution of the University's NCAA Division I Women's Rowing program including identifying and recruiting qualified student-athletes, practice and race preparation, coaching, and promoting an atmosphere of compliance within the program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coaching; develop skills of student-athletes, assist in preparing practice plans, implement practice plan, review and breakdown video and data.
  • Organize, prepare, and conduct individual and team practice sessions to train and prepare for competition and instruct student-athletes in techniques of the sport.
  • Identify, evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes.
  • Promote a culture supportive to student-athletes post graduate goals.
  • Promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program through strict adherence to NCAA, ACC and university rules and regulations through monitoring of program activities, active involvement and commitment to continuous rules education, timely submission of compliance-related documents, and immediate reporting of any knowledge of potential rules violation involving self or others.
  • Interaction with Rowing boosters and booster club members.
  • Community outreach with players and other coaches. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
