The Payroll Manager will lead the day-to-day administration and operation of the payroll and student employment functions. The Payroll Manager oversees the programs, policies and procedures ensuring compliance with state and federal tax laws and regulations for payroll and timekeeping for all employees, and will support annual audit efforts related to payroll. This position serves as a subject matter expert with deep functional knowledge of payroll. The Payroll Manager promotes a strong customer service orientation and engages daily in the negotiation of mutually beneficial solutions that serve the best interests of both the College and the individual campus constituents. This position implements systems and process improvements that strengthen the efficiency, functionality, and security of the payroll function.

The Bates Shuttle Driver, working through Bobcat Express, transports students in vehicles including up to 11-passenger vans, to and from off-campus locations within the surrounding Lewiston-Auburn community.

Bates Dining, Conferences and Campus Events operates the Bobcat Den as an a la cart cash operation. The Retail Operations Worker is responsible for one-on-one customer service, safe and efficient food preparation and quality assurance, responsible alcohol service, accurate cash handling and appropriate waste management. This position calls for someone who demonstrates an ability to relate well to individuals and groups with varying backgrounds, perspectives, education and skills. Exemplary organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and ability to cook and fill orders in a fast paced environment are all a must.

The Commons Associate - Sanitation position provides front line dish room and janitorial support for the Bates dining program which serves approximately 5,000 meals per day to the students, faculty, staff, and guests of the college. This position is responsible for following food safety and sanitation procedures as well as demonstrating positive relationships with individuals and groups with varying backgrounds, perspectives, education and skills. Ability to work as part of a dynamic team who embraces communication and inclusiveness is essential to the candidates success. Exemplary organizational and time management skills, outstanding customer service skills and attention to detail are a must.

The Systems Analyst is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of systems and applications to support the business and management needs of the College. This position will focus on the College's web infrastructure and deployment of open-source, third-party, and in-house developed applications.

The Bates Campus Safety Officer position is centered on the foundation of providing an excellent customer service experience; building relationships with faculty, staff, & students; engaging with the Bates community at events; and ensuring the safety and security of the Bates community. The Bates Campus Safety Officer is expected to be a common presence on campus; serve on the communications line, respond to calls for service (both emergency and routine); enforce college policy through a student support, accountability, and community lens; prepare and submit incident reports; and perform other duties as required by the Director of Campus Safety.

The Museum of Art offers an Assistant Education Curator of Academic and Community Programs position to afford a recent graduate a nine-month period (academic year/September through May) in which to extend their education and professional training. This position is an entry-level professional museum position. The Assistant Education Curator may be renewed for a second year. Working under the general supervision of the Controller, this position performs a variety of tasks in cashiering and in support of the Accounting Department.

Reporting to the Director of Leadership Gifts, the Leadership Gifts Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of current and potential donors with the capacity to make gifts of $50,000, or greater, in support of college initiatives. The Associate Director plays a key role on the Annual Giving team and is responsible for the annual fundraising campaigns for both Reunion and non-Reunion classes by managing effective volunteer committees, assisting with communications and solicitation strategy, and soliciting prospects in person.

This position works with other Electricians to maintain campus electrical distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems, building environmental control equipment, appliances, and other specialized electrical equipment.

Bates College is seeking an Outdoor Education & First-Year Programs Post-Bac Intern to join a team of professional staff working to support all of our Outdoor Education & First-Year Programs on campus. This specifically includes assisting the Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs with planning and tasks related to the Annual Entering Student Orientation Program and other orientation initiatives related to the first-year experience. The Outdoor Education & First-Year Program Post-Bac Intern will also provide support for planning and tasks related to the Bates Outing Club.

The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) supports intercollegiate athletics and is responsible for the care and wellbeing of student-athletes through the provision of athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment of training regimens, and treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals. This position will have travel responsibilities with Football with other responsibilities assigned by need and best fit. The ATC works directly with student-athletes to provide care, education, counseling, evaluation, treatment and rehab of athletic injuries and illnesses both on campus and at game venues. The ATC must follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the Bates Athletic Department, NESCAC and NCAA. Person Mandated to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation, the Certified Athletic Trainer is a mandated reporter of known or suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult if they believe the adult is incapacitated or dependent. Under Maine 4011-A. Reporting of suspected abuse or neglect, the law also states that certain people, like an Athletic Trainer, must report to the Department of Health and Human Services, Child Protection if they know or have reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been or is likely to be abused or neglected.

The postdoctoral research associate will play a key role in a multi-institutional project to examine the interaction of moisture, buoyancy, and turbulence in the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer (MABL) with wind farms. The PRA will use the generalized quasilinear approximation in concert with immersed boundary methods to study the interactions of multiple wakes with the MABL. This will require running simulations using the Dedalus framework, analyzing the resulting data, and validating the results against wind tunnel data supplied by our partners at the University of New Hampshires Flow Physics Facility and the Brown University wind tunnel.

The Third Cook position within Bates Dining, Conferences and Campus Events primarily works in student dining providing approximately 5000 meals per day to the students, faculty, staff and guests of the college who dine in Commons. They are also called upon to prepare items for catered events as needed. As such, this position calls for someone who is able to safely, efficiently and consistently produce and present food in a high volume setting. A focus on providing outstanding customer service and exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must.

Bates Dining, Conferences and Campus Events oversees all student dining and is also the Colleges catering provider. Staff holding a cook position primarily work in student dining providing approximately 5000 meals per day to the students, faculty, staff and guests of the college who dine in Commons. This is a 40 hour/week position, 12 months/year with great benefits.

The Custodial Lead position is responsible for overseeing and directing a crew of up to 23+ people while cleaning, inspecting and inventorying campus properties. The size of the physical area and number of employees assigned will vary according to use and purpose of assigned facility, volume of pedestrian traffic, and intensity and frequency of the cleaning process.

The Assistant Men's and Womens Diving Coach is responsible for aiding the Head Men's and Womens Swimming and Diving Coach in the execution of practices and meet day instruction/coaching. This hands-on position provides direct support for an increasingly diverse Bates College community utilizing excellent customer service skills. This is a professional assistant coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NESCAC Conference and the College.

The College Store Clerk is responsible for cash register duties, customer service, stocking, and merchandising of the College Store. This position will include some maintenance and fulfillment of our online store. This is a per diem/On-Call position.
