This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
Perform administrative duties in the Department of Biology.
Responsibilities:
Perform advanced administrative duties for the Department of Biology. Specifically, receiving and screen visitors. Answers the telephones for all department faculty/staff and graduate students. Direct calls for take message for appropriate faculty/staff/students/ Places supply orders and maintain inventory control of office supplies. Input purchasing request in to university online system. Track and follow up on purchasing requests. Arranges meeting and seminars for students and faculty. Manage deliveries and mailing into and out of department. Order materials for the office.
Create courses in BANNER. Assist with maintenance and registration activities. Maintain fiscal and academic records. Meet and greet individuals and the general public. Advises and provides information concerning administrative and academic organizational procedures and policies. Resolves or refers questions to appropriate faculty or staff.
Assist Department Head in daily office maintenance and production of reports. Assist with registration and process students. Prepare department scholarships. Assist with degree audits. Gathers and compiles data from meetings. Maintains confidential files. Serves as Leave Coordinator for department. Input hiring information into PV Talent system.
Process student worker applications. Supervise student workers. Prepare workers payroll. Prepare and monitor EPA and EWR documents in Canopy for department.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma.
Three years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
