Job Description

The 4-H Grows Program Coordinator assists 4-H County Agent(s) with the planning and coordinating of day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities for the Dallas County 4-H Program – 4-H Grows to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding or other specifications. This is a salaried position and does not include overtime pay.

  • Assists 4-H County Agent (s) in scheduling, implementing, and sustaining the 4-H Grows work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.

  • Assists 4-H County Agent (s) in ensuring the program delivery network meets the needs of the Dallas County youth and volunteers, reflects the objectives and intent of the 4-H Grows program or project, and meets applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.

  • Coordinates activities of the 4-H Grows program with interrelated activities of other 4-H and Extension programs, departments, or Extension staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications of the 4-H program.

  • Assists 4-H Agent(s) in evaluating the 4-H program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.

  • Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional, educational, and training materials, newsletters, or brochures, as appropriate to the 4-H program.

  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains 4-H program records and statistical information.

  • Prepares grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the 4-H program.

  • Completes periodic reports, financial statements, and records on 4-H program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Management, Behavioral Science, or in a job-related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience teaching in a public or private school.

  • Customer service experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in the use of standard software applications.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the public.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous Knowledge or experience with the 4-H program.

  • Bilingual preferred, but not essential.

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • Off-business hours, weekends might be required.

  • Reliable transportation with the ability to travel to various work and training site locations is necessary.

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have good driving record.

  • Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
