The Department of History at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University in Brno is one of the most important Czech historical and didactic institutions preparing future history teachers. Job description

The position is aimed at these activities:

The associate professor mainly performs the following activities:

  • conducts lectures, seminars, compulsory elective lectures in full-time and combined studies, participates in students' work experience (sitting in on classes, etc.),
  • submits and implements grants, projects and creates space for the involvement of other members of the department,
  • guarantees the Master's degree,
  • supervises bachelor, master and doctoral theses,
  • publishes in renowned professional and scientific journals, prepares monographs,
  • represents the Department at national and international conferences, participates in the preparation of Department events, participates in professional scientific committees,
  • participates in the provision of operational and administrative activities related to the agreed type of work as instructed by the Head of the Department,
  • develops the scientific field, performs scientific and research tasks as part of creative activities.

Requirements

Qualification requirements:

  • graduate of a Master's degree programme in history,
  • scientific and pedagogical rank of associate professor in history,
  • ability to teach in Czech (minimum level C1 or native speaker),
  • potential for international professional/research activities, evidence of a list of publications in the last 5 years,
  • active knowledge of academic English (minimum level B2),
  • ability to actively serve on the editorial board of a departmental journal,
  • ability to popularise history, to transfer professional knowledge into teaching practice.

Expertise and skills

  • PC user skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), data, information and digital content management, communication through digital technologies (MS Teams, ZOOM, etc.),
  • flexibility and willingness to participate in the development of quality undergraduate student training,
  • good organizational and communication skills, independence, responsibility, proactivity,
  • ability to participate in the organization of conferences, seminars.
