The Department of Experimental Biology at the Faculty of Science MU is a modern, fully equipped workplace where individual research groups are engaged in research at all levels - from molecules and cells to invertebrates and humans; from basic research to the application of results in human and veterinary biomedicine.
Description of the offered position
- Involvement in the educational process of undergraduate and graduate microbiology students (teaching and thesis supervision)
- Research activities in the field of microbiology focused on anaerobic microorganisms
- Searching for and applying for research projects, solving ongoing projects
- Managing and maintaining an in-house laboratory collection of methanogenic archaea
- Participation in and organisation of promotional events for the public and schools
- Assisting in the maintenance of Section of Microbiology social networks

Skills/Qualifications
- MSc. university degree and Ph.D. in Microbiology or related biological fields
- More than 5 years of experience in culturing anaerobic microorganisms with a focus on methanogenic archaea, practical knowledge of all basic culture techniques
- Research and publication activities in the field of microbiology
- Knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques
- Ability to process data using the R programming language
- Ability to teach microbiology in the Czech language (native speaker or documented C1 language certificate)
- Good knowledge of the English language (written and verbal)
- Active approach to applying for national and international research projects
- Active approach to promoting the study of microbiology at public events and on social media
