About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fun busy team in the heart of Staffordshire. We are looking to recruit a Career Liaison Manager (CLM) to join an established team of CLMs within the central Career Connect Service. With evident Careers and Employability service experience, you will report to the Employability Manager (Careers) and have responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of innovative employability provision and Information, Advice and Guidance, throughout the University. You will provide support, offering consultancy and assistance to academics towards the development of employability learning embedded in curriculum and specialist advice to students. Using data, for e.g. Careers Registration, Graduate Outcomes and student demographics, to inform your practice will be key along with the ability to build relationships with academics and employers with a view to shape curriculum input and content in order to support graduate outcomes.

Main Responsibilities 

You will enhance students’ graduate career prospects and the student experience through employability initiatives both embedded in the curriculum and through wider project work, including employer-lead activities, 1-2-1 consultations and group interventions, both face to face and virtually. Developing relationships with students, academics and employers is a key aspect of the role. 

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of an FE/HE environment in a similar role or relevant experience, underpinned by professionalism, student focus and confidence whilst multi-tasking in a busy environment.  With a sound grasp of employability and career readiness, working with a diverse local student population, you will be expected to understand the labour market at a local and national level to equip students with relevant job-hunting expertise.

Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, good IT skills and the ability to work both in a team and independently the successful candidate will be able to prioritise their work and plan in a methodical and organised way. It is essential that you demonstrate a flexible approach and the ability to manage unpredictability.
