The Deputy CPO is an exciting new senior level opportunity created within our recently restructured Human Resources and Organisational Development (HROD) function. 

The HROD Department will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of our evolving People Strategy which will enable the delivery of the new Aston 2030 strategy. The Deputy CPO role will be the operational lead playing a critical role in the delivery of Aston’s People Strategy.

As the primary driver of cross-university People projects, you will effectively coordinate and delegate tasks where appropriate and deputise for the Chief People Officer where necessary. Your responsibilities will extend to overseeing the consistency and robustness of all HR Operational activities and employee relations and casework management processes, handling escalated or highly complex cases. 

For this exciting new role, we are seeking an exceptional individual with sound technical expertise and a proven track record in leadership, particularly in managing large teams and delivering transformational programmes at pace. A skilled and inclusive collaborator, with experience of working in a unionised environment, you will be able to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders to provide high-quality, responsive, and user-focused services amidst rapid change.
