80%-100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy. It offers security policy expertise in research, teaching, and consultancy.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated cybersecurity policy expert with a strong grasp of the intersection between technological development and security politics. An interest in the Swiss security and defense political environment is desired. As part of our Risk and Resilience Team, you will conduct applied research on emerging cybersecurity and -defense issues. You will publish your analysis in policy relevant and scientific publications, support research-oriented activities (including expert workshops and conference presentations), and will communicate your research findings to policy-makers and other relevant stakeholders through a regular dialogue.

We offer you an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in a think tank that is both university based and close to the policy-making environment in Bern. Career development is a core element of our culture.

Your profile

You have an MA or PhD degree in the social sciences or closely related fields. You should be familiar with cybersecurity issues, in particular with respect to their implications for security and defense policy. Technical IT or computer security skills would be an asset.

The CSS is a multi-lingual working environment, so proficiency in English alongside at least one other Swiss national language is required. Work experience in international organisations or think tanks would be an advantage, as is knowledge of the Swiss political landscape.
