Kinderspital Zürich is the largest university children's hospital in Switzerland with about 2,500 employees, and is one of the leading centres for paediatric and youth medicine in Europe. Your responsibilities
  • You will work in the research project “A 3D mesoscale atlas of intrathalamic inhibitory interneurons in the human brain”, led by Prof. Andras Jakab (University Children's Hospital, University of Zürich), Prof. Theofanis Karayannis, Prof. Fritjof Helmchen and Dr. Nikita Vladimirov (Brain Research Institute, University of Zurich), funded by the University Research Priority Programs Project “Adaptive Brain Circuits in Development and Learning (AdaBD)”
  • You will work brain tissue samples and prepare them for imaging with 3D light-sheet microscopy
  • Microscopic image analysis
  • Ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging of the tissue samples

Your profile
  • Master's degree (or degree close to be finished) in neuroscience, biology or molecular biology
  • Experience with molecular methods, such as immunohistochemistry
  • Experience with tissue-clearing (CLARITY, iDISCO) techniques and light-sheet microscopy
  • Basic knowledge in neuroscience
  • High motivation to learn new microscopic techniques, and to be involved in translational neuroscience research
  • Excellent team-working abilities and excellent written and spoken English
