NOTICE OF THE OPENNING OF AN INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR RECRUITMENT OF ONE RESEARCH TRAINEE

Ana Cristina Freire, Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, hereby advertises the opening for 10 working days of an international call for recruitment on one Research Trainee, with bachelor’s degree, resolutive term uncertain, within the scope of the Research Project 101139730 – “GreenIncities Demonstrating holistic data-driven co-creative approaches in nature-based solutions towards climate adaptation and mitigation, financed by the European Union.

2. Requirements:

2.1. Mandatory admission requirements:

Application can be submitted by any nationals, foreigners and stateless people with a bachelor’s degree in the above-mentioned scientific area who meet the following conditions:

  • Proven experience in the development of Landscape Architecture projects, including all phases (base program, preliminary study, preliminary project and execution project).
  • Advanced performance in computer-aided design programs (AutoCAD), 3D modelling programs (e.g., SketchUp or Revit), and visualization programs (e.g., Enscape, Twinmotion, Lumion).

2.2. Preferential requirements:

  • Advanced performance in graphic design programs (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and video editing programs (e.g., Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects).
  • Fluency in the English language.

2.3. Hiring requirement: If the candidate holds a degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions established in the Decree-Law no. 66/2018 on July 16. All the formalities established in the Decree-Law must be met until the hiring. 

Failure to comply with these requirements results in the preliminary rejection of the application.

 

3. Functions to perform:

a) Project management, including the organization of scientific meetings, management of relationships with partners, preparation of reports, deliverables, and other related publications.

b) Development of a landscape architecture project in a three-dimensional digital format (base program, preliminary study, execution project).

c) Production of technical documents of the project, project books, panels, photo-realistic simulations, three-dimensional models, videos, and virtual reality simulations.

d) Development of a Building Information Model (BIM) for the landscape design project.

e) Monitoring of project site, work, and post-work, using a drone.

 

4. Applicable laws and regulations:

  • Regulation No. 487/2020 of the Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto, published in the 2nd series of Diário da República on May 22, 2020.
  • Labour Code, approved by Law no. 7/2009, of 12 February.

 

5. Place of work: The functions will be developed in the Department of Geosciences, Environment and Spatial Planning (DGAOT), of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP).

 

6. Duration of contract: This employment contract is scheduled to start on April 2024 and will be maintained only for the period due to accomplish the tasks of the job description, under a full-time regime.

 

7. Remuneration: €1.280,72 (first position of Full-time Research Trainee category, with remuneration level 1, according to the Regulation No. 487/2020 of the Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto, published in the 2nd series of Diário da República on May 22, 2020).

 

8. Selection methods:

Evaluation and selection process:

The mandatory selection method is the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path.

  • The use of selection methods is phased, as follows:

a) Application, at the first moment, to all the admitted candidates, of the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path.

b) Application of the second method, interview or presentation session or public demonstration, to part of the candidates approved in the previous method.

  • Valuation of selection methods

1 — Each member of the jury evaluates the candidates' scientific and curricular path on a scale from 0 to 100 points, with valuation up to the hundredths, with the classification obtained through the weighting defined in the criteria to be evaluated.

2 — The evaluation of the second selection method is expressed on a scale from 0 to 100 points, with valuation up to the hundredths.

  • Assessment of the scientific and curricular path obligatorily and optional interview with a maximum weighting of 10%.

 

Evaluation criteria:

The evaluation of the scientific and curricular path will be made by each member of the jury, on a scale of 0 to 100 points, valued to the hundredths, for each of the evaluation criteria:

 

A.Relevance of project work in Landscape Architecture, proven by the candidate's portfolio (50%).

B.Professional experience in topics related to the project and to the tasks to be performed, proven by the curriculum vitae (40%).

C. Motivation letter (10%).

 

The final score of the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path (APCC), on a score of 0 – 100, will be obtained by the expression:

APCC = 0,5*A + 0,4*B + 0,1*C

 

The evaluation process may optionally include an interview, presentation session or public demonstration, to the 3 best positioned candidates in the previous method, whose evaluation is also expressed on a scale of 0 to 100 points, valued to the hundredths. In this case, the final classification (CF) will include a weighting of 10% for the interview component (E), as follows:

CF = 0,9*APCC + 0,1*E

 

9. Evaluation methodology:  

9.1. After the admission of candidates, and before voting begins for the final ordering of candidates in the assessment of their scientific and curricular path, each member of the Jury presents a written document, to be attached to the minute, with the candidates’ list ordered in descending order of merit, duly substantiated, considering the criteria and parameters in the notice of the call. 

9.2The ranking methodology is as follows: 

a) Each rank is filled by the candidate who obtains an absolute majority in each voting round. 

b) Voting is done according to the successive voting method. 

c) In accordance with the previous item, the Jury votes initially for the 1st place, then for 2nd place, and so on, until the final rank of all candidates admitted to the call. 

d) If a candidate obtains an absolute majority of votes, he is placed in the rank for which voting is occurring and is removed from the ballot, and the Jury starts the procedure to choose the candidate who will occupy the next rank, and so on. 

e) If an absolute majority of votes is not reached in the voting round for any of the ranks, the Jury proceeds to repeat the vote for the place in question, but excluding in each of the rounds, up to a limit of three, the candidate with the least votes, in order to find a candidate who reaches the absolute majority of votes. 

f) If there is a tie to determine the candidate with the least votes, under the terms of the previous paragraph, the Jury repeats the vote up to a limit of three, only among the candidates in a situation of tie, with the candidate with the least votes being excluded from each voting round. 

9.3 If an absolute majority of votes is not reached after carrying out the votes foreseen in the previous paragraph, or if a tie persists, the President's casting vote must be used for final ranking purposes. 

9.4 Each member of the Jury must respect, in the various voting rounds, the order presented in the document referred to in no. 9.1. 

 

Minutes are drawn up of the Jury meetings that contain a summary of what occurred there, the indication of the meaning of the votes cast by each of the members and the respective reasons, which may be contained in autonomous documents attached to the minutes, being signed by all the members of the Jury present.

 

Only candidates with a rating equal or higher than75 points will be eligible for hiring.

 

The final deliberation of the jury is approved by the head of the institution responsible for opening the call. The final decision on recruitment is the responsibility of the head of the hiring organization.

11. Results notifications: Lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the final ranking lists, will be published and advertised on the webpage of this call at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and all candidates will be notified by under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure.

 

12. Submission of applications:

The applications must be exclusively submitted through the web page of this opening   (https://sigarra.up.pt/fcup/pt/cnt_cand_geral.concursos_list ; no. 425), within 10 working days after publication in DR, at the attention of the Jury, and shall include the following documents:

a) Application requirement (available on the webpage, properly dated and signed)

b) Bachelor’s degree certificate

c) Detailed curriculum vitae

d) Portfolio

e) Motivation letter

f) Other documents deemed important by the candidate for the evaluation.

 

In case of doubt, the Jury is entitled to request any candidate present further documentation to support their statements. False statements provided by candidates are punishable by law. All candidates who submit their applications in an improper manner or fail to fulfil the requirements established in this call are excluded from admission .

 

The documents referred to in points a) to e) are mandatory.

 

13. Final Decision: Under the terms of article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure, after being notified, the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce. Within a maximum period of 90 days from the deadline for the submission of applications, the final decisions of the jury are given.

 

14. The present insolvency proceeding is exclusively intended to fill the vacancies indicated, and may be terminated until the homologation of the final ordering list of the candidates and expiring with the respective occupation of the jobs on offer.
