Do you want to develop ideas and build up a new field of research with us? We provide highly advanced analysis laboratories and experienced colleagues and ask you to contribute with initiative and power of execution.

SINTEF Industri is looking for a researcher in a permanent position, who can use their experience in analytical chemistry and project management to get even more exciting research out of our very advanced analytical capacity. We already have projects in areas such as the green shift, nanomedicine, health, process development, new materials, food/feed and industrial measurements. But we know that there are more opportunities both within and outside of this - and we are looking for a person  who wants to contribute to building further and more broadly, and who want to lead new research within the group. You will also be able to build on all the experience and ongoing research within the Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, and at SINTEF in its full breadth.

Skills/Qualifications

Tasks that will fall to a new employee will be:

  • Initiate collaboration and develop research areas for the research group
  • Collaborate with other researchers and industrial partners and contribute input and expertise to how analytical chemistry can be used to solve scientific, societal and industrial challenges
  • Develop, implement and lead research projects
  • Planning, execution and reporting of experiments
  • Method development for sample preparation and analysis
  • Write and publish scientific articles, as well as communicate research to the general public

At SINTEF, you become part of project teams in various projects, where you collaborate with customers from both Norwegian and international industry, other research institutions and other SINTEF employees.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Ph.D. or master's degree in a relevant subject area
  • Competence and experience in analytical chemistry

Additionally, it is an advantage if you have experience with project management and the establishment of collaborative projects. And experience with and an interest in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Programming and handling research data
  • Applied or industrial research

Have good communication skills (written and spoken) in English, and, preferably in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. We offer Norwegian courses for non-Norwegian speaking employees and expect our colleagues to be willing to learn the language.

The Mass Spectrometry research group (MS group) has broad and specialist expertise that is in demand in market areas such as health, marine, industry, food and agriculture. Our projects are carried out in close collaboration with industry, universities and other research institutions. The MS group currently has approx. 20 highly skilled scientists and engineers using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques. We operate a modern platform with analytical instrumentation such as LC- and GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS/MS, SEC, FFF, and high-resolution mass spectrometers (HRMS/FTICR, QTOF). Our aim is to be a leading R&D partner in physico-chemical characterization and advanced organic and inorganic analysis in Europe.
