Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With

This exciting role sits within University of Canterbury's Advancement Team, which comprises Development (fundraising), Alumni Relations, and Advancement Services.  From its earliest beginnings in 1873, philanthropic support and the generosity of donors and supporters has played a major part in making UC the respected institution it is today. UC Advancement is dedicated to continuing that tradition.

You will work with a growing team of passionate colleagues committed to making a difference for our students and our community. As UC commences its exciting 150th anniversary year, we seek a knowledgeable and highly skilled Advancement Services professional with a strong understanding of gift processing, database management, data analytics, reporting, and compliance who will thrive as part of a fun, supportive, and achievement-focused team.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

In this role you will identify and cultivate relationships that generate philanthropic gifts that support the strategic objectives of the university. As a key member of the growing team, you will be incremental in the team's development. the Development Specialist is expected to build an annual fundraising income portfolio of $500,000. You will help to raise funds for scholarships, projects and programs in the university.

Mōu | Who You Are
You have more than 3 years of experience and a successful track record in major gift fundraising and have experience working with a wide range of donors, volunteer supporters and staff. You have strong negotiation and relationship building skills, are comfortable and effective in making written and face-to-face requests for financial support. You will have experience in prospect/customer life-time management, with a track record of personally securing major gifts >$25,000 from an individual or organisation. You are highly self-motivated, but happy to collaborate with others to achieve ambitious goals, and have experience and success in proposal writing, case for support and impact reports To thrive in this role it's important that you have a genuine commitment to the values UC embraces.
