This position is for an Academic Staff Member (ASM) within the Barbering Team in the Faculty of Business, Design and Service Industries. This is a full time role however, we are happy to consider applicants seeking part time work.

This role involves teaching on our Barbering programmes. As an ASM within this team you will be required to teach in the classroom and tutor ākonga (student); research, review, and update resources and classroom materials; set and mark assessments and enter results; assist with the recruitment and care of ākonga (student); and actively participate in the team and school environment. Travel between campuses within the region may be required. 

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Delivery of Barbering programmes 
  • Providing leadership in ākonga (student) management
  • Developing, planning and implementing ākonga (student) assessment, courses and resource material
  • Monitoring ākonga (student) progress and results and providing timely and accurate advice and support as required 
  • Planning and timetabling for the programme as well as assisting with recruitment
  • Managing the training salons
  • Actively promoting and applying Te Pūkenga - Toi Ohomai H&S policies 

About you / He kōrero mōu 

The skills, experience and qualifications required for this role include:

  • New Zealand qualification in Barbering or equivalent
  • A minimum of five years industry experience.
  • In depth experience and knowledge of the Barbering industry
  • Good computer literacy skills
