Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, part-time, Clinical Practice Advisor - Senior/Consultant Clinical Psychologists to join the Clinical Psychology Training Programme.
The Clinical Practice Advisor role involves:
- Providing supervision and instruction to students.
- Enhancing student knowledge of Mātauranga Māori.
- Assisting the broader programme to authentically develop bicultural practice.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be an experienced Clinical Psychologist with experience working in Aotearoa. You will be passionate about investing in the future of our profession and enjoy supervising, teaching, and working in an intellectually stimulating environment.
Your training and work experience will be from a predominantly behavioural/cognitive-behavioural/”third-wave” approach. You will bring your competency and knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Mātauranga Māori in the context of psychology, and Māori models of care to this position to assist the programme to further develop in this area. Our long-term goal is to develop a clinical training programme that authentically and coherently engages with bicultural knowledge and practice.
Key Requirements:
- A New Zealand registered Psychologist in the Clinical Psychology Scope of Practice with at least 5 years of clinical experience, preferably with most of this experience in mental health settings.
- Experience as a Clinical supervisor.
- Competency and knowledge of evidence-based clinical psychology practice.
- Competency and knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Mātauranga Māori in the context of psychology, and Māori models of care.
- Membership in appropriate New Zealand professional organisations.
- Proven ability to work constructively and supportively with a wide range of people.
- Established relationships with the local clinical community is desirable.
- Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated ability in teaching and training in appropriate areas of current need and/or university setting.
