Biology Lab Research Technician

ICFO is a research center located in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and currently hosts 400+ people, including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel. We are currently looking for a Biology Lab Research Technician who will join the ICFO Biology Lab team reporting to the Head of Unit. The position is offered with a duration of two years.

The main responsibilities (although not exclusive) for this position are:

• Routine culture and maintenance of bacterial strains and mammalian cell lines, including preparation and sterilization of culture media and additives.
• Preparation of different media and additives for routine culture of the research model organism C. elegans.
• Perform routine procedures for the extraction, purification, quantification and characterization of nucleic acids.
• Preparation of buffers, solutions and other reagents.
• Collaborate in the supervision and maintenance of the inventory of laboratory reactives and consumables.
• Washing, cleaning, organizing and conditioning of the different Lab spaces, equipment and tools of the Laboratory, as well as glass and plastic materials commonly used in the Laboratory.
• Collaborate in the management and monitoring of Laboratory orders.
• Collection and handling of chemical and biological residues generated in the Lab.
