Post Summary

Applications are invited for the above post, which will support the Head of Discipline and the School of Medicine educational Division at the Saint James’ Hospital campus. The academic and clinical components will be located principally at the Trinity Centre on the St James’s Hospital Campus but could be at other locations within the hospital or School of Medicine.  

The successful applicant will support the delivery, organisation, coordination and assessment of the undergraduate medical programme in the School of Medicine.  Appointees will be expected to contribute to the ongoing review of the curriculum. The successful applicant will also engage in research and clinical activities but will be expected to spend at least one third of their time contributing to the teaching programme. 

The appointment will include clinical commitment as defined by the Head of Discipline and may be appropriate to those pursuing a higher specialist training scheme.  The appointee will be expected to engage in research and may pursue a higher degree while in the post. 

The Department of Clinical Medicine is seeking to fill a Lecturer Registrar post on the Saint James’ Hospital Campus to support cutting edge teaching in the undergraduate Medicine programme and other related programmes in the discipline of Clinical Medicine.  We prioritize excellence in teaching and research and collaboration with clinical partners in our hospitals. The post holder will   aid the development of curricula, advanced practice and support relationships with new and existing service provider partners. The post holders will also contribute to a highly successful research team. The Discipline of Clinical Medicine incoporates Molecular Medicine, Nutrition and Dietitetics and Medical Physics. The Discipline delivers both undergraduate and postgraduate education and has a strong research platform in key areas of the College's strategic plan including, cancer, infection and immunity and neurosciences. 

The successful candidates must complete all relevant pre-employment checks upon commencement of post, including but not limited to; be registered with the Irish Medical Council, be cleared from a Garda vetting, and be cleared from occupational health perspective by the relevant hospital. 

Post status: The appointment is offered on a one-year fixed term contract basis with a potential for renewal up to a maximum of 3 years. The appointment is available from 8th July 2024. 

Salary: This appointment will be made on the HSE Registrar scale €63,078 - €74,280 per annum scale or HSE Specialist Registrar scale €70,716 - €88,043 per annum in line with current public pay policy.
