This post reports to Enterprise & Innovation Manager. The person appointed to this post will be required to work closely with students, technical staff, academic staff and industry and will engage with other staff across the Institute on a regular basis. This is a part-time (19.5 hours per week), fixed term, specified purpose position over 3 years and 4 months.

The primary role of a Technical Assistant will be:

To carry out the general servicing and maintenance of laboratories, workshops and any other associated areas and ensure maintenance of equipment, instruments and facilities as required;

To provide training and training materials on the use of equipment and to advise as to best practice when using the equipment;

To ensure that materials and equipment are prepared for demonstrations, stakeholder meetings, project and research work in laboratory and other areas;

To ensure that the required equipment is ordered, transported and stored appropriately.

About Elevate

ELEVATE is funded under the TU Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise scheme (TU RISE). The purpose of the scheme is to establish, strengthen, and systemise the IADT research and innovation office to enable greater and more structured engagement with local and regional enterprises and community stakeholders. ELEVATE focuses on the Creative and Cultural Sector and Industries (CCSI). The aim is to strengthen research capacity, accelerate commercial applications, and align with Smart Specialisation Strategy and Regional Enterprise Plans. The project envisions creating a research and innovation ecosystem, emphasising Technology and Policy for the CCSI, sustainable innovation, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

The TU RISE scheme is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EDRF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27 and the Northern & Western Regional Programme 2021-2027, and recipients of TU RISE funding must adhere to the communication requirements for their relevant region in line with Articles 22 (3) and 50 (1) (e) of the Common Provisions Regulations 2021/1060.
