The Department of Irish and Celtic Languages in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies at Trinity College Dublin welcomes applications for a tenure track post as Assistant Professor in Early Irish. The successful candidate will be a specialist in Early Irish language and texts and will have a PhD in Early Irish, excellent spoken and written Irish, relevant teaching experience and a publication track-record appropriate to an appointment at this level.

This post is full time, 5-year fixed term with tenure track.

The assistant professor salary scale is €36,469 - €95,441. Appointments will be made in line with public pay, new entrant salary will be no higher than point 8 on scale (€55,384).

  • A comprehensive curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications.
  •  The names and contact details (i.e. addresses, e-mails, etc.) of three academic referees.
  •  A research plan (summarising research to be carried out in the next three years and including details of funding to be sought – 2 pages max.)
  • A teaching statement (summarising teaching philosophy, and experience – 2 pages max.)
  •    A sample syllabus of 2 potential original modules that could be offered in a research-led context plus a separate list specifying areas of expertise that could be covered in terms of research-informed teaching in the field of Early Irish language and texts.
