  • Base Salary $72,234 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Research Assistant to provide technical and operational support to the NHMRC team at the Centre for Kidney Research within the Sydney Children's Hospital network. This includes preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members and performing fundamental aspects of research work including recruitment, interviewing caregivers of children with chronic kidney disease, data collection and entry.

As a Research Assistant, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • assist with the design, development, and documentation of suitable research protocols, ensuring protocols are adhered to
  • coordinate the activities associated with research projects, ensuring that experiments, etc. are prepared for and run smoothly
  • collect research and enter research data, prepare statistical analysis, carry out literary searches and summarise literature, and code information for academics
  • liaise with clinical specialists and affiliated researchers regarding study progress and outcomes.

About you

As a Research Assistant, you:

  • have experience using the REDCap database to support study data entry and analysis (desirable)
  • have extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications
  • possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods with a high level of organisation
  • have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills, and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters
  • can demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities and sometimes limited supervision.
