Job Summary
The Health Systems Innovation Lab within the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health seeks a Research Assistant (RA) to join the team. The RA will engage in a series of research activities under the guidance of Professor Rifat Atun, Professor of Global Health Systems and Principal Investigator (PI), and the senior research team. The primary area of focus for the Research Assistant is the Data Collaborative For Health Systems Performance (DC - HSP).
Position Description
The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following key duties within an agreed timeframe with the PI for the DC-HSP project:
- Lead in data harmonization for Latin America and the Caribbean region, consisting of data inventory, data mapping and data processing
- Coordinate logistics of consultative group and learning network activities
- Contribute to the development of synthesis reports examining finding relating to Phase II of DC-HSP
- Contribute to the development of a microsimulation model to assess health system performance in relation to cardiovascular disease
- Conduct sub-analyses using data from the Regional DC-HSP Dataset to examine health system performance, specifically in terms of care of cascade outcomes in relation to various socio-demographic characteristics in the health system context
- Develop manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals
- Conduct literature reviews of academic papers, policy briefs, and government reports related to health system performance in relation to cardiovascular disease in countries / regions of interest
- Create presentations to communicate research findings and progress to stakeholders
- Liaise and support the HSIL administration assistant as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
Additional Qualifications and Skills
The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
- Masters degree preferred
- 2+ years experience preferred
- R and/or Stata skills preferred
- Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills, diligent and organized, conveys integrity

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
