The Section of Medical Biotechnology at the Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering, Aarhus University, invites applications for a fulltime 21 months postdoctoral position focused on investigating infections, regeneration, and carcinogenesis using single-cell omics, organoids, and mouse Models.

The position is for a period of 21 months and is available from October 1st, 2024 until June 30th, 2026.



Job description 

The Infection, Carcinogenesis, and Regeneration group headed by Cindrilla Chumduri offers applicants an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious research project to understand the host-pathogen interactions. The project is positioned in the interface of infection outcome analysis in native niches. The project will rely on tissues and stem cell-derived organoids, mice models, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and detailed bioinformatic analysis to decipher the infection-induced cellular perturbations.



Your profile 

We seek candidates holding a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines, with a profound interest in developmental and stem cell biology. Ideal applicants will be deeply committed to investigating the intricate biological systems influencing infection effects and cancer development.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience with organoid development, mouse models, CRISPR/Cas9 and omics technologies. In addition to technical expertise, responsibilities include manuscript preparation, presentation of research findings, and active participation in laboratory operations.

Candidates should also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on collaboration in an international research setting.

The Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering represents multidisciplinary research fields within the sections of medical biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, process and materials engineering, and environmental engineering.

The Chumduri Lab in the section of Medical Biotechnology stands at the forefront of research in infections, carcinogenesis, and regeneration, pioneering advanced research tools such as organoids, alongside multi-omic and bioinformatic approaches. Our objective is to identify biomarkers and develop therapeutic strategies for the prevention of infections and diseases.

This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self.
