Part time Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist to Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research

We are looking for a collaborative and motivated part time Lab Coordinator to the laboratories of three research groups and one platform in the Protein Structure and Function Program. Expected start date in January 2022.


About CPR

Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) (www.cpr.ku.dk ) comprises a wide range of expertise and skills within its research programs spanning disease systems biology, proteomics, high throughput protein production and characterization, chemical biology, disease biology, and protein therapeutics. The center contributes to the progress of translational research within medicine and provides fundamental insights that can be used to promote drug discovery and development.

The Protein Structure and Function Program consist of three research groups lead by Guillermo Montoya, Nicholas Taylor and Eva Kummer, and the Protein Production and Characterization platform, it houses around 45 researchers, technicians and students.


Job description:

You will have an important role in the program and be in charge of the coordination and organization of laboratories and provide an important foundation for a well working research environment. You will communicate daily with researchers, technicians and students from the program and other groups at CPR.

You will have support from 1-2 laboratory assistants.


Main tasks:
  • Be a “go-to” person for general and shared lab issues in the program
  • Inventory and ordering of chemicals and other consumables
  • Preparing buffers, solutions and plates
  • Drop off and pick up glassware
  • Waste handling, including chemicals and hazardous waste
  • Keep an overview of laboratory equipment
  • Cleaning and (simple) maintenance of laboratory space and equipment
  • Organization of lab space and duties
  • Managing and training of laboratory assistants in the program
  • Introducing new staff members to waste handling in the lab
  • Interface with the research groups and protein production platform

Qualifications:

We will have emphasis on personal qualifications and experience in our selection. Our ideal candidate is:

  • Has good communication skills, both oral and written English (working language at CPR is English). Danish or willingness to learn Danish is a plus.
  • Has experience with laboratory work - degree as Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (bioanalytiker).

Employment conditions:

Working hours are 28 hours per week, the distribution of hours is flexible and are planned together with your co-workers, as long as they ensure a proficient operation.   

Expected starting date is 9 January 2022.

Employment as Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (bioanalytiker) will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Society of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists (Danske Bioanalytiker).

Employment as Laboratory Technician will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 5.

This is a 1 year employment.
