The Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences is looking for an engaged laboratory technician or bioanalyst with experience in mammalian cell culture and cell-based functional assays.

At Molpharm our focus is G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved numerous physiological and pathophysiological processes and account for over 30% of targets for currently approved drugs. The Gustavsson and Mathiasengroups utilize a range of methods (e.g. pharmacology, cell- and structural biology) with the goal of understanding various aspects of GPCR function.
Your tasks
In close collaboration with the groups’ scientists, you will participate in various research projects. You will e.g. run GPCR signalling and binding assays, use microscopy approaches, and perform cloning of DNA constructs. You will further organize and plot the collected assay data.
As our laboratory technician/bioanalyst, you will also carry out a number of laboratory tasks, e.g. preparation of laboratory reagents, handling of cell culture, keeping records of DNA primers, vectors, and frozen cell stocks and other daily lab routines.
Profile
Essential experience and skills:
It is important that you have experience with basic molecular biology methods and sterile tissue culture techniques. In addition, it is essential that you:
- Hold a degree as laboratory technician or bioanalyst (academy profession degree or similar)
- Are self-motivated and good at working independently with an interest for expanding your skills and learning new methods
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in working in an international team
- Have good English communication skills, both oral and written
- Are organized and keep an accurate record of laboratory procedures, reagents and results
- Have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable experience and skills:
- Experience with plate-based bioassays (e.g fluorescence and bioluminescence)
- Experience with cloning (PCR techniques etc)
- Familiarity with standard bioinformatics software
- Experience with radioligand binding assays
- Experience with software for plotting and treating data, e.g. graphpad prism
Terms of salary and employment
Your employment will be at The Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The position is full-time (37 hours per week) and is open for appointment from September 15th 2022, or as soon as possible.
Employment as bioanalyst will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Danske Bioanalytikere
Employment as laboratory technician will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 4.
Depending on qualifications a supplement may be negotiated.
