The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, invites applications for the following position:

Assistant Professor in Applied Microeconomics

Masaryk University, Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for a highly motivated and productive assistant professor in the field of applied microeconomics (environmental economics, behavioral and experimental economics, public economics, public finance, labor economics or related areas). The position is initially funded for 3 years, after this time the contract might be extended.

The position is designed to allow the candidate to work in an established team and to pursue their research agenda and develop new research projects. Active participation in teaching (both lecturing and tutoring) is an integral part of the job.

We are looking for:

  • a full-time assistant professor (candidate with Ph.D. degree in economics or relevant field),
  • research interest in applied microeconomics (namely in environmental economics, behavioral and experimental economics, public economics, labor economics, or public finance),
  • excellent background in relevant research methods,
  • publication potential in leading scientific journals,
  • excellent command of the English language,
  • experience of teaching university level courses (thesis supervision is an advantage).

What does the position entail?

  • conduct your own research,
  • active collaboration with other members of the department,
  • publish research in leading econ journals,
  • extend international network of the group and the department,
  • design research projects and prepare submission of grant proposals,
  • participation in teaching bachelor and master courses,
  • supervision of student theses.

What do we offer?

  • A full-time (40 hours a week) Assistant Professor position at one of the highest-ranked universities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
  • A 3-year initial contract (with possible extension).
  • The monthly salary starts from 60 000 CZK (i.e. €2,400) before taxes depending on qualification and seniority (gross average wage in the Czech Republic is around €1800/month, median wage is €1500/month; your salary will be burdened with 20 – 25% income taxes). In the case of meeting the annual goals, the employee is entitled to bonuses.
