ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

At the Institute of Slavic Studies, we are looking for a colleague for the position of Assistant Professor with a focus on Ukrainian linguistics. 

MAIN JOB CONTENT

Pedagogical

  • Teaching courses in theoretical linguistic disciplines (phonetics, morphology, syntax, the historical development of the Ukrainian language, etc.) and leading other lectures and seminars within the curriculum of the bachelor's program Ukrainian Studies and the curriculum of the subsequent master's program Slavic Studies.
  • Supervising, consulting, or reviewing Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
  • In exceptional cases, a supervisor or consultant in doctoral degree programs.
  • Participating in the organizational provision of pedagogical activity.
  • Participating in publishing activity, especially for educational purposes.

Research

Participation in research, development, and innovation activities, especially:

  • independent investigation of complex research and development tasks and the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, scientific monographs, or peer-reviewed proceedings,
  • active participation in domestic and foreign scientific conferences and professional meetings, and the presentation of research results,
  • participation in the organizational provision of research activity.

Other

Participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the department head. E.g.:

  • routine administrative tasks in the administration of own taught courses, using of e-learning, and communication with students via the MU Information System,
  • organization and participation in foreign internships of students and academic staff,
  • participation in the promotion of the field.

WE REQUEST

  • Ph.D. study program in the field of Ukrainian linguistics or a related field – required,
  • specialist focus on Ukrainian linguistics – required,
  • high level of written and oral communication in Czech, and Ukrainian, 
  • knowledge of English at a minimum level of B2.
