Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the effective management of Carleton University’s multi-faceted examination operation. Examinations take place seven days a week and includes in-term tests, finals and deferrals. Exams can be delivered through various formats and can include traditional pen and paper-based examinations, online, or in-person digital exams. To support the various exam types and formats, Scheduling and Examination Services (SES) provides a number of services to support students and course instructors.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
▪ Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
▪ Knowledge of university academic regulations and structures
▪ Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
▪ Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
▪ Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
▪ Issues and trends at Carleton and in the higher education sector related to course and exam scheduling and best practices
▪ Knowledge of enabling technologies
▪ Knowledge of project management
▪ Knowledge of the broad university and its specific academic programs
▪ Knowledge is deployed to develop and lead a functional area within the university


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
▪ Bachelors’ degree in education or related field
▪ Minimum of seven years of previous experience in the related field with atleast two years of Supervisory/leadership experience

This position is regularly required to work on campus. Due to the ongoing dynamic nature of Covid-19, you may be required to work temporarily remotely due to public health requirements. If this happens, you will work with your direct manager to set up a remote work environment including discussing appropriate technology and requirements. You are required to follow all directives to set up a safe and confidential workspace in a remote location and ensure all Carleton property (intellectual and other) is safeguarded. If required to work remotely, you will be notified by your manager when working full time physically onsite will resume.
