Offer Description
The candidate will take on the sub-project “Practices, discourses and anti-democratic movements on the border between the justice and public safety professions”, which aims to analyze the relations of conflict, cooperation and competition between professionals, interests and police and legal knowledge around the legal regulation and administrative or judicial control of police activity. Specifically, the objectives are: (i) to analyze these relationships in the practices, interactions and perceptions of these professionals involving the limits of police activity; (ii) to analyze interests, knowledge, daily interactions and political demands between professional bases and their elites.
The position is open to candidates of any nationality. The desired qualifications and skills include a doctorate in Sociology or related areas, obtained less than 7 years ago; research experience in the field; oral and written communication in English and Portuguese; international research experience; availability for work in São Carlos (São Paulo state, Brazil) and for fieldwork in other Brazilian capitals.
