Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as the Director, Capital Program. You will drive the implementation and delivery of our Capital Plan, encompassing the replacement, refurbishment, and development of existing and new facilities and infrastructure. As a member of the senior management team within the Division of Infrastructure and Commercial, you will lead and manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring successful project outcomes that exceed University and stakeholder expectations.

The size, scale and complexity of the University’s Capital Plan is unique, in that you will be leading and managing projects ranging from smaller existing building maintenance up to multi-million-dollar new build learning, teaching and research facilities. Projects within the Capital Plan are undertaken across our multi-campus network. In addition to this, you will be required to identify opportunities for the integration of sustainable and environmentally conscious practices in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the budget management, implementation and delivery of the Capital Plan in accordance with directives from the Board, Standing Committees, and Executive.
  • Oversee major and minor infrastructure projects, managing consultations and expectations with stakeholders effectively, and meet customer requirements within defined timelines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide comprehensive leadership, direction, and project management oversight for a portfolio of infrastructure projects.
  • Manage all aspects of project lifecycle, from design management to delivery, resourcing, and contract management.
  • Implement best practices and principles in project management to mitigate risks and ensure success in meeting time, cost, quality, safety, and environmental targets.
  • Manage the University’s physical infrastructure and environment and implement systems to affect continuous improvement and achieve best practices in the delivery of infrastructure management services.


Qualifications/Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional attainment and achievement and leadership experience at a senior level in a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and delivery of infrastructure projects and achieving results in a dynamic environment with unwavering integrity and sound judgement
  • Experience in procurement, tendering and contract administration of infrastructure projects in line with organisational policy.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate project teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • An ability to assess business, financial, and operational risks and to articulate, develop, implement, and monitor risk.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years (renewable), based at the Hawkesbury campus (Richmond NSW).

Remuneration Package: A senior remuneration package applies to this appointment.
