Your new role

Curtin University have an opportunity for a High Voltage Network Coordinator to join our Properties, Facilities and Development team on a 2 Year Fixed Term Full-Time Contract. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, Electrical, the HV Network Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the electrical high voltage (HV) maintenance activities throughout the university that are required to maintain business continuity safely and efficiently. The HV Network Coordinator also works closely with the Electrical Infrastructure Manager to maximise plant availability through effective maintenance management.


Key duties and responsibilities include:

Coordinate the operation and maintenance of the University’s high-voltage infrastructure that includes:


  • HV safety management through development, review and execution of the HV permitting system with a focus on business risk mitigation by planning for outages with associated mitigation strategies.
  • Delivery of HV operational needs including HV network maintenance and delivery of HV switching programs
HV Operational Management:
  • HV safety management including undertaking electrical safety incident assessments when required.
  • Continuous improvement/development of the campus HV permit system.
  • HV network operational coordination, including zone feed changes, network switching, network status tracking, HV permit management etc.
  • HV maintenance coordination utilising the University’s computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) and setting up associated service contracts.
  • Prepare Mid- and Long-term maintenance plans and continuous improvement of all HV Maintenance activities
Capital Works - Electrical Services coordination, including:
  • Assist with the implementation of the Electrical Integrated Infrastructure Management Plan (IIMP) in alignment with the University’s strategic direction as defined in the Bentley campus Master Plan and as advised by Campus Planning.
  • Ownership of the Electrical Services Project Delivery Guideline.
  • Advising on electrical services covering high voltage systems and components as they relate to projects undertaken within the University that includes design reviews, construction monitoring, project close assessment and witnessing etc.
 Operational - Electrical Services support including:
  • HV installation condition assessments driving improvements in service condition visibility for future projects and EOL replacement project proposals.
  • Site wide PV system HV Integration and protection scheme management and compliance.
  • Developing and assessment of system improvements opportunities to decrease maintenance costs.
  • Review of contractor safety qualifications.
Key Requirements
  • A relevant qualification and/or extensive experience as well management and specialist experience in high-voltage distributed networks.
  • High Voltage Switching Operations certificate or equivalent.
  • Significant understanding of high voltage infrastructure network design and operational requirements as applied to an urban precinct (campus) environment.
  • Strong depth of knowledge of current legislation and standards applicable to high voltage assets and associated infrastructure.
  • Sound knowledge in maintenance of electrical infrastructure with a core focus on asset compliance, maintenance, renewal and disposal of assets and associated networks.
  • A white card
  • WA drivers’ licence
  • A level of fitness commensurate with the position
