About the opportunity

The University Health Services is looking for a highly organised Medical Receptionist to join their team.

In this role, you will act as the 'face' of the UHS; making appointments with patients, dealing with enquiries, and doing everything possible to ensure a professional, friendly, and comfortable experience for patients.

Due to the nature of this role being a customer facing position, it is a requirement to be in the office full-time.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a team of 4, reporting to the Practice Manager

  • provide exceptional general reception support, such as making appointments for patients

  • respond to enquiries in person, via email and over the telephone

  • data entry of patients' personal details and attendance records using Best Practice

  • general financial tasks such as invoicing, providing receipts and processing payments

  • liaison with medical, nursing and administrative staff to facilitate patient care.

About you

  • proven experience as a medical receptionist in general practice or equivalent

  • previous experience working within a tertiary institution is highly desirable

  • ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

  • awareness of the importance of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive personal information

  • sound knowledge of the software system Best Practice is highly desirable

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong computer knowledge.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
