About the opportunity

The Marketing and Communications Assistant provides support for University-wide marketing and communications activities to enhance the University’s profile and brand position. This position would suit a candidate who has previous experience in website content management and copywriting experience and the willingness to learn.

Working in the Marketing and Communications, Strategic Projects team, this position works closely with the Student and Faculty marketing teams to deliver marketing content and campaigns. Day to day, this will involve making content updates to the website, copywriting and meeting stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • assist in implementing marketing and communications initiatives in support of University objectives

  • assist with creating communications using different channels including web, search and social media

  • to assist with updating and optimising marketing and communications content on relevant websites

  • provide administrative and project support for marketing and communications activities and campaigns.

  • create marketing assets and provide event support as required.

  • work collaboratively with colleagues in Marketing and Communications to ensure that strategic goals are achieved.

  • develop effective and supportive relationships with staff at all levels across the University and maintain a customer focused approach in the delivery of services.

You will have:

  • experience editing copy written by others to ensure a publication, print or online, is of a standard that meets editorial requirements and objectives

  • knowledge and experience in website content management

  • high level of communication skills, both written and verbal

  • excellent organisational skills and time management skills

  • ability to work in a multi-stakeholder team environment and managing competing priorities

  • able to work independently

  • high levels of creativity, initiative and adaptability

Desirable criteria

  • bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience (desirable but not essential)

  • copywriting experience

  • demonstrated experience to build strong relationships with key stakeholders

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
